Heather Bellamy spoke with Becky Murray, Co-founder of One by One.

Continued from page 4

Becky: This year I'm back out in Kenya several times. I'm doing my first ever medical mission next month. I'm there in three weeks' time and so we've got doctors and nurses and dentists all flying out and we are going to be delivering a thousand mosquito nets throughout the whole village. I'm super excited about that. I'm a nurse by background so that really rings great in my heart.

We also run a feeding programme for widows in the very northern tip of Sri-Lanka. For anyone who doesn't know, Sri-Lanka went through a civil war that lasted almost three decades and as a result of that there are literally hundreds of widows. They are struggling to survive because there is very little Government aid for them. They describe themselves as the 'Forgotten People'. They're a hurting group of people. The war officially ended in 2009, but when you speak to the locals, it's as if it finished yesterday. The war scars are still very raw in their lives. We are now feeding 257 people every single day. I'm out there again in August and we're starting a new sewing initiative, so we're gonna teach the ladies how to sew, just to have joy and a hobby. But actually, hopefully, out of that many of them will develop a new trade, to start bringing in income for themselves.

Heather: How can people find out more about the work you do, or if they want to give, or go out on mission with you?

Becky: People can come out with us on missions trips. We take teams five times a year to Kenya. If they want to get involved, they can contact us via the website, which is onebyone.net.

They can also sponsor a child, or a widow and her children if they like. Or they can join us on social media and join us in prayer and keep watching what we're doing. We're on Instagram as onebyonemin and that's also the same for Twitter. They can also follow us on Facebook, or they can follow me personally if they like, my name is Becky Murray and I'm also on Facebook.

Stopping To Help People In Need

Heather: What would you want to say to anyone who has a dream in their heart like you did?

Becky: Hold fast to the dream you've got. I was 18 the day that I really felt in my heart I was gonna run a children's home and yet it was a 13 year journey before I actually opened the children's home. As a decade passed, I often felt like nothing's happening, what's going on? I knew I'd got this promise, but nothing was appearing to happen.

In those moments, write down the promises. Write down the dreams and hold fast to them. But pray it through. Don't rush and try to create your own Ishmael. Hold fast to the promise from God and the Isaac will come.

As you step out, every single time God steps in. CR
