Darren Roy on discovering God's perfect plan for your life.

Just before the turn of the new year, I was sent an inspirational quote on social media which read, "1st January 2019 is the first blank page of a 365 day book; write a good one."

I understood the sentiment and the implied encouragement to make the most of the year ahead, but with 2019 now well underway I contemplated this statement a little more. It led me to Psalm 139:16 which reads, "...in Your book all the days of my life were written before ever they took shape, when as yet there was none of them."

I believe God has planned every day of our lives with His purpose in mind, and rather than choosing to write a good book from our own inspiration, it is surely more fulfilling to discover the Writer's plan each day for ourselves; to spend time with God, to commune with Him, to listen to the still small voice and hear His instruction for what was already written ahead of time.

A comforting feeling from the Spirit surrounds me when I realise that it's not just celebrities, sports stars or TV personalities that get books written about them.

Our God has already written a book about me and a personal book about you too! A book which proves that you were carefully planned and considered by Father God and a book that declares you're not an accident or a mistake.

If like me you come from an ignoble background and didn't know your earthly father, it doesn't change the fact that you can rejoice now knowing your Father in Heaven wrote every one of your days.

This doesn't mean everything went according to God's perfect plan, and we shouldn't blame a loving God for every negative experience. There may have been pain, disappointments and hardships as a result of our wrong detours or the choices of others, but if we can tune into God and hear His leading, our remaining days can be played out to the pages of our heavenly book.

In other words from now on let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us (Hebrews 12:1) and let us do the good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2:10).

You are valuable and you are special. If you seek God to discover what He wrote, you will find out just how valuable you really are.

I don't believe you are on this planet to fulfil your best ideas or to come up with your own plan. The best plan and purpose for your life is the one already written and I believe only you can do it. CR
