Having just been the Christmas season, you probably saw at least one or more bumper stickers stating 'Jesus is the Reason for the Season.' He really is but He is so much more than a good reason to hang lights and give gifts. As for me He is the reason for living, for breathing, for getting up each morning to face another day. He is everything.

Christmas has now come and gone, and you may or may not have even given God or His Son the slightest thought or notice. But as for myself and millions of others, He is always in our thoughts. He is on our hearts and minds every waking moment. Not in an oppressive way, or an over bearing 'Big Brother" is always watching way; But more in an "I'm in love and can't stop thinking of the one I love" way.

Sound 'creepy.' The idea of someone saying they are in love with a Deity? Not really, after all when God first and so perfectly made man, He made him with the sole intent of having someone to love and be loved by. In the Bible, it was written by one of Jesus' followers that God is in fact love; And that everyone who loves is born of God and knows God, and he who does not love does not know God for God is love, He invented it! And further it says that He loved us first. Its what He's all about. It is the 'reason' He sent His son Jesus to die on the cross in our place that we might be able to again receive that love. Having been separated when we chose our own path over Him, the toll for that road had to be death, that was the cost. We should have had to pay it, but because of His incredible love for us, He supplied the payment, His greatest love, His Son. And as you might have heard somewhere at sometime in your life, His son Jesus not only died on the cross to pay your debt, but then rose again to guide us into that new life, conquering death once and for all that we would not have to.

I personally cannot live without the love of my creator. He formed me by His love and intended for me to live in that love. I once sat next to a man on a plane who informed me that he didn't need God. He said that when he got to the end of his life he wanted to be able to stand alone and know that he had made it on his own. I then shared with him that I personally couldn't make it on my own, that life was just to hard, and that when I get to the end of my life I really don't want to find myself alone for eternity. He began to cry, and then confessed that he too had found life to be too difficult at times, and would not want to spend eternity alone either. Who would? Wouldn't you, upon the ending of your life, be thrilled to find someone who loves you more than anything, waiting with open arms to receive you? Better yet, wouldn't you prefer to meet that someone now, and live in that love everyday for the rest of your life? That someone is God, and with His Son Jesus they are waiting to lavish that love on you. It is available to you now, today.

So, what will it cost you to have a relationship with God? What church will you have to join, what organization will you have to pay in order to obtain God's love? Here's the good news, it's absolutely free, the price has already been paid. It is now there for the asking.

Freely He gave the Bible says, and freely you can receive. It's simply a matter of invitation. Like any good relationship, it is a matter of love, trust, and belief in the other party. No jumping through hoops, no performance needed. Ask Him to receive you, and you receive Him. Let His love wash over you and make you a new person.

He's made His move towards you, it's your turn now. It is really very simple, ask to receive His son into your heart, surrender your life over, let Him take away the darkness and give you His light. He will receive you, forgive you, and love you for eternity. There is a peace that passes all the understanding of this world, a place of rest. That peace and that place is found in Him. What are you waiting for, ask now?  CR
