DJ Hopeton Gordon, or as he is better known, G-MAN, is based in Derby and has been deejaying for 11 years.

G-Man currently DJs on BBC Radio Derby's 'Rejoiced' between 6.15pm-6.45pm on Sundays and has also deejayed on Inspiration FM based in Northampton for the past two years. G-Man started his musical career not as a DJ, but as a drummer in a band called Personal Touch playing funk in the Derby area for two years. The band got a great review by Terry Christian (formerly from The Word on Channel 4) and got coverage in the Derby press. He stared playing traditional gospel tracks by Andrae Crouch and Shirley Caesar and now plays house, garage and R&B tunes. Listening to Andrae Crouch and Commissioned inspired G-Man to become a DJ, because it made him realise that this music could really change people. Scott Blackwell is another DJ who has made a big impact on G-Man's deejaying. I asked him what he best likes to play on the dance floor. He told me, "I'll only play something with a positive vibe or lick on it.

"G-Man started to deejay in clubs in 1991 and has deejayed at the Cross Rhythms Roots And Branches festival and at several clubs in the Derby area under the club name of Just Gospel Promotions, including Oasis for the past two years at the Baseball pub. G-Man is also resident DJ at JFK club night called G-Dance and in his spare time does mix tapes for DJ Coopoid on 'Dancity' broadcast on UCB. During the last year he has formed a DJ collective with DJ Alec May called G/Kru (God Keep Reaching Up)

G-Man's theme tune is "Hold Your Head Up High", out on a white label featuring Julian Jonah Badboy mix. Plans for the future include | setting up a Christian run nightclub aimed both at non-Christians and Christians in Derby. Andrzej Iwanowskiz
