Mike Rimmer quizzed the brothers who are SKINFLOWERS.
Mike: Who are the Skinflowers? Describe what you do.
Gary: We are brothers Gary and Rich Leicester. We make big music for small domestic appliances! I sing and play the guitar, brother Rich is responsible for bass/keyboard/sampler duties.
Mike: Share one memorable moment from making the album.
Gary: Sitting and watching Rich and Lee H (the Chaos Engine/Wasp Factory Recordings) build a sounds cape by manipulating a single sample live in the control room. Going and making everyone a cup of tea. Coming back and watching them carry on. Going and making another cup of tea. Coming back and telling them that maybe 30 minutes was enough... It's not on the album, but it's scary, excellent stuff...
Mike: Go on, hard sell the album - why should we buy it?
Gary: Well, according to our record company: "Bittersweet lyrical compositions, guitar/bass interplay that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up and an Atari ST out back all add up to leave you wondering what happened to the days when Albums were Albums, rather than a couple of singles and a lot of filler"... but I think they have to be kind.
