WORLD WIDE Message Tribe founding member Andy Hawthorne was presented with a unique award on Saturday May 9th, during his last concert with the Tribe, at an evangelistic event at Alton Towers organised by Youth Alive Ministries. Band member Cameron Dante brought the concert to a standstill as he presented Mr Hawthorne with a gold plated Doctor Martin's book, the reason being, as Cameron explained, that in Andy's earlier days as an evangelist he was known to tell people that if they didn't give their lives to Jesus he would kick their head in. Andy, now aged 37, perhaps mellowed by age, graciously stood down from his role performing with the band as he said, "There comes a time when you've got to hand over to some youngsters. The rest of the band are much better than myself at rapping and singing and dancing and the timing just seemed right to spend more time preaching and heading up the ministry." CR
