Beyonce talks to the media about her beliefs

POP SUPERSTAR Beyonce spoke in The Son Christian newspaper recently about her faith. Identified as "a devout Methodist," part of the article by Charlotte Webster read, "The former Destiny's Child singer said, 'I never mixed Christianity with how I felt (about him). I am about faith and spirituality more so than religion. Doing right by others and not judging. The thing that keeps me grounded is knowing that I'm always protected and that God is in control of things. Even the name of our group, Destiny's Child, we got out of the Bible. . . For me it is about the way I carry myself and the way I treat other people. My relationship and how I feel about God and what he does for me is something deeply personal. It's where I came from. I was brought up in a religious household and that's very important to me.'"

The article continued, "While her sexy dance routines have been criticised by some, Beyonce is confident God isn't offended by her 'shaking her booty'. After meeting Prince Charles in a charity concert in London she denied any contradiction between her raunchy approach and personal faith. She said, 'I honestly believe he wants people to celebrate their bodies so long as you don't compromise your Christianity in the process.'" CR

By their FRUITS you will know them. If Beyonce claims to be a Christian, yet she is promoting satan, the occult and the NWO in her songs, and she is with a man who is doing the same does it REALLY take a genius to work it out?? There is NOTHING wrong with making judgment - the Bible says to try the spirit - that is making judgment! People take "judgment" out of context and that renders them mute and ineffective! Do we not judge between what is right and wrong everyday? It is false modesty to say that we do not judge and it is also irresponsible. We are to speak out when we see wrong.

i Agree with your (Donna's) comment on Beyonce. What you've said is true. I also thing this whole World View of "you should not Judge" is used as a tool/ excuse for people to do what ever they want and not be corrected because "it is wrong to Judge".

Celebrate our bodies? Beyonce needs to read God's word, our bodies are not our own and we are to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to Him. She is presenting herself as false and as a believer, you are not to compromise with the world. Just because you say you believe in God doesn't mean it is so, you can tell the tree by its fruit.

This is response to your response on the Beyonce article. I think the key point in the article is when she says, "I am about faith and spirituality more so than religion"-meaning that she doesn't follow organized religion-although she believes in God. You hear of lot of people say that these days-"Oh, I'm not religious but I'm spiritual".
Beyonce's example challenges what it means to be a Christian in contemporary American-I'm sure she's aware of what you said about presenting our bodies,etc-but somehow she has rationalized away
this scripture in favor of spiritual slogans (that even an atheist could believe in) such as "Doing right by others and not judging"
Beyonce is a good example of what alot of contemporary Western Christians believe-they believe in God, yet they said they aren't religious so they can rationalize sex before marriage, cursing,etc-behaving as if God doesn't care so long as they give to charities, etc.

It's true! She is way too provocative! It's embarrassing too me as a Christian woman. I don't see her as a good rep. of the Christian faith. She needs to stop looking through the scales in front of her eyes, and start covering her body more. This is not a judgment call, this is common sense! I like Kelly Rowland better because she like to keep it on the DL. She doesn't try so hard to be so worldly. She seems more genuine.

I think that beyonce just doesn't know real facts...When people make comments like that it's because they don't know God's word...She hasn't read the bible...I don't listen to Beyonce' because I think that she is a little confused....Our bodies are temples and a temple is a sacred place....Her temple is very public and that's the problem

My prayers will be for Beyonce and the Knowles family. I am embarrassed as a christian to see that so many people are making it appear as if my Lord and savior accepts this stuff.

Great music, she works in the modern world with great influence and proclaims God at the centre of her life. Thats good.

We all have areas to improve on our walk with Christ, maybe her dancing does get too sexualised but I believe gaining influence in the world is a great thing for a Christian.

I think people need to respect other people's views on religion. Just because one does not walk around wiht a holier than thou persona doesnt make them love God less. I think Beyonce is keeping her feelings real. She has a personal relationship with God, she's not bound to a book to tell her who God is....

I personally think no one has the right to judge anyone because we have all fallen short,and we are all sinners..there is only 1 who is holy and it is none of us.She believes in God,just because she is in her own secular world and dances wild doesnt make her trash.We dont know what her personal relationship with God is like so therefore we should have nothing to say on the matter.Just pray for her..she recognizes that she would have no success or life period if God had no hand in it..and she gives him that honor and respect.

Beyounce like so many confessed Christians must be careful not to compromise our stance on living as unto God for people or to justify sin. We can know what God requires by meditating on his word, and living the principles outlined in the bible, and by developing a daily relationship with God. In one article i read, Beyounce stated that God understands why she can not attend Sunday Service, but that contradicts the bible --which states that we as Christians should not forsake the church, I am not condemning anyone to hell, because that will not be the penalty for not attending church, but God has given us spiritual leaders to help each one of us walk in his principles each day. God will give us direction in or life we must not assume we know his mind, without asking and rely on his guidance. We don't have to think for God, he will talk to us and give us specific instructions if we listen. Beyounce has an amazing gift and appears to be very humble even with success, but success can not provide salvation. My prayers and support are with her. Today, Christians around the world are being critcized and being considered outcast because of their faith, but we can not be afraid to take a stand if it means that we will be put in uncomfortable positions. The definition of religion is a many that goes through rituals or traditions without really understanding why he or she follows those traditions. Religion is doing something because someone probably family taught you to do this. But faith is Christian in day to day action. Faith will cause us to commit to church based upon the word of God, faith will cause us to pray believing God will make our dreams come true and guide us through each day. Faith will cause us to stand even in a recession, knowing God will sustain us. Faith causes us to believe that the bible is God's word and that it has everything we need to live this life successfully

Beyonce has an incredible God given talent and appears humble with it. I do not believe anyone has the right to judge another persons faith or their beliefs. In my mind Beyonce is an excellant role model for young people today. She appears to be a lovely person with christian values and should be respected for that. I cannot believe how quick some people are to judge others. If everyone followed Beyonce's example the world would be a much better place. May God be with her always.

Sweetheart, if everyone were more like Beyonce, this world would have all kinds of sexual immorality. Don't be fooled, it sounds like most people who posted here are bible readers. When destiny child first came out they did a song called "Do you ever wonder when he don't come home who he goes to see" They were 15 and 16 referring to stealing someones man. I know no one is perfect, but what separates people who know the truth and people who don't, people who know the truth admit when they are wrong, they don't try to justify it.

i love Beyonce from the heart and i believe with all my heart that sooner or later that she will realize that God does not change his word for anyone. She is a very sweet girl but she have to stop showing off her body like that because she will cause men to lust and commit sin and i am sure she does not want anyone to go to hell because to he immoral dressing. I love her and i will keep pray for her everyday because what she is doing is wrong, wrong, wrong and i know that God will show her it sooner or later. Entertainment does not mean a thing to God.

I dont understand alot of people in the church who are wrapped so much in what a person wears or their outside. Thats the difference between MEN and GOD. GOD looks at the heart, no matter how holy us as Christians act to be, its gotta be in the heart. I get tired of Christians who walk around thinking they have a stronger connection or thinking they are way more holy then the next. We all sin and sin daily, that doesnt make what beyonce is doing right, but we need to sweep around our own front doors FIRST. I know I aint in no position as a Christian to point out what someone else is doing.

I pray for everyone that we as Christians learn to build up each other in the word instead of tearing each other down.

I'm Justin Timberlake's cousin and I'm not proud of him right now at all. Beyonce (even though she is most likely a Christian ) is not exactly wacking with the Lord right now. Like some people commented on this site above me, she doesn't dress like a Christian women and she just doesn't use her body in a way Christ would want. Justin is also not doing well in some of those same areas.

I think Beyonce is so gifted, she really is. However I do believe that God, according to the Bible (1 Peter 3:7), is not pleased with how those gifts are displayed. If it is alright for a follwer of Christ, who died so we can be free from what the world labels right then you might as well erase Christianity because there is no difference between a Christian and an atheist who shakes the bun bun. He called us to be different (1 Peter 1:16). I KNOW I KNOW, it sounds closed minded and judgemental, but right has to be right (right?)and wrong has to be wrong (right?), and the day we are afraid to tell those we love the truth about what's right and what's wrong is the day when all who are living cease to exist.

Gospel Diva...so u thnk that we shudn't take correction? In proverbs it says that only a fool gets upset when being corrected...Don't be a fool....Judgement and correction can be mistaken for the same thing sum time but a humble person would take it in stride whatever the case may be....nobdy is judging her but as christian it is our duty to bring her to God and sumtimes that means pointing out her flaws.....Just pointing ot flaws in judging...but explaining to her that thru her flaws God is still waiting and wants you to know him and understand his word....That's correction......so please don't be a fool by makin foolish statements...God loves u wen noone else does...Bless

I love Beyonce a lot and that is why i pray 4 her everyday so that the Lord Jesus christ could open up her blinded eyes to see his ture word. God did not give us our body to out it out for th world to see becasue this cause men to lust, which is a sin and therefore she is also committing a sin and putting her soul in danger of hell's fire. Beyonce is a very nice person but niceness does not take u to heaven. The rich young ruler disobey one thing and he went to hell. Okay let's get off this message board and hit the floor to pray for our sis in Christ. I'm so thankful people have prayed me out of foolishness and didn't just murmur and complain about me. With as busy as she is she probably doesn't have a lot of time for church or to read the Word. So we all know when we stop doing both of those things our relationship with Christ can get weak. Even Jesus said he prayed that our faith fail not...which means it's possible for our faith to fail!! I've had times where my faith has been weak and it's made me a luke warm Christian. She could be going through something like that. Pray for her...she has a wonderful platform to win souls to Christ but she needs a loving push!

What if God is real? Would the world with all it's beauty and natural laws have created itself or just plain come out of nothing without a supreme 'omniscient' being as the creator???

Its so ridiculous how people try to accommodate God to their way of living so they wont feel guilty for what they are doing. they come up with this false God to defend themselves. and it juts shows how little they know about our real God. i wish people would stop doing that, leading alot of people to believe in a false hope. if she thinks "im a naughty girl" for example is something God is ok with. she needs to read the bible, repent, and meet the real God

What people have to realise is the way Beyonce is onstage and everything, is as she has said before strictly for the stage, she is an entertainer and a performer just because she carries on acertain way onstage doesn't mean she lives like that. Beyonce knows how to seperate the stage from real life. Its like an actor or an actress just because they play a certain role on stage or on the TV screen doesn't mean they live like that character.

I believe that no one on earth was born perfect. I love the lord Jesus Christ with all my heart, But that don't stop me from sinning. We as people don't seem to realize that every time we judge some one we are sinning. I'm not saying worshiping Satan is right. Just think about it we all are lost sheep. what can i say about Beyonce?
i have looked up to so mucchhh but as im becomin closer to my creator and understanding more about my faith i begin 2 question whether the person im lookin up to is portraying correct behaviour! im only 15 im not tryin 2 sound like my grandma but i adore beyonces bootyshaking...lol itss a skill and she works reall hard att it but its immoral...and its makin so many men and sadly women too do many things and harm many people also it seems as if beyonce is servin the world .......like i said earlier im not tryna be like my grandma i dont wanna judge im jus a bit confused beyonce u can still help the world as much as you do without doin the immoral things you do!!

I won't judge Beyonce.. I mean, who are we to say whether or not a person's telling a lie or not.. We cannot judge her about her spirituality.. We don't know her inner self.. We can just believe or oppose to what she says, but we cannot say that it is a lie.. Only God can.. Remember, We Live by FAITH and not by SIGHT... Some will show that they are REAL CHRISTIAN, but, the same scenario, do we know that it is true? My point here is, we can't, and we MUST NOT judge her spirituality.. It is between her and God only... She maybe performs some not-so-Christian style, but did God judge us based on our appearance... I hope you guys can get my point.. Thank you and God Bless!
