Isabel Suckling signs with Decca; single and album planned

YORK CHOIRGIRL Isabel Suckling has landed a record deal with Decca Records. The 12 year old is believed to have become the first female chorister to land a major record deal. Isabel has been a choirgirl at York Minster since 2006 and is mentored and managed by former teen star Aled Jones, who found fame 25 years ago. Said Jones, "I've always been interested in soprano voices and I heard that there was a pretty special girl in York so I went and investigated it further." Decca will release Isabel's debut album later this year. She will also be put up as a challenger for the Christmas number one when she releases a cover of Michael Jackson's "You Are Not Alone" in December. CR
