700 people attend the 5th Year Anniversary Showcase of the gospel event, The Well

ABOUT 700 people celebrated the 5th Year Anniversary Showcase of Midlands foremost and regular gospel event The Well recently. The event took place at Centennial Centre, Birmingham. Hosted by BBC Radio Leicester's Dulcie Dixon the night included performances by Divine, Freddie Kofi, Hutchinson & Gale and newcomers For Real and Nu Life. Also incorporated were appreciation Awards to media, performers for their input into the Gospel plus video footage of previous Well events.

Said the founder and promoter of The Well, Beresford Dawkins: "The last five years have been extremely hard work in selling the idea which promotes local talent. But it's paid off, a good foundation has been laid. The Anniversary show was our way of saying a very big thank you to all those who have supported us. But it's just started, over the next five years we're looking to further develop The Well as a venue which will benefit the gospel fraternity on a whole." Over the last five years The Well has showcased the British talent of gospel artists such as Nu Colours and the late Hazel Watson as well as Americans Sounds Of Blackness, Billy and Sarah Gaines and Fred Hammond.
Forthcoming Well events are 'The Open Air Summer Special' in August and a performance of award winning Commissioned at August 28th at Aston University. The latter event will also feature American jazz fusion team Allen & Allen, rated girl group Witness and holy hip hoppers A1 Swift. More details on 0121 643 6187. CR
