Lincoln event overcomes a near disaster of seating collapse.
A SEATING collapse at the annual Grapevine celebration at the Lincoln Showground could have spelt disaster for the event but, in the end, "God's sovereign power stopped it developing into a full blown disaster." At the event on Sunday 29th August some raised, bleacher-style seating collapsed while Delirious? were leading worship in the Big Top celebration. 21 people were injured, mostly with cuts, bruises and shock, but four people were admitted to the local hospital. When Grapevine finished on 31st August, two people were still in hospital with fractures. After the seating collapse the HSE were called in to investigate and the Big Top was put out of use. The giving at the event reached record levels with over £300,000 donated.
The worship album being recorded by Kingsway Music at the event and
featuring Chris Bowater, Godfrey Birtill and Hannah Holland, and
titled 'Still Standing', was completed prior to the seating collapse.
