Pianist Roger Mayor wins award for 'Gentle Touch' album

IN THE top award for Christian music in Britain, the Album Of The Year Award presented at the Christian Booksellers Convention in Bournemouth easy listening pianist Roger Mayor pulled off a major surprise in winning the award for his 'Gentle Touch' album on ICC. The votes for the Award, which last year went to 'Jesus Freak' by DC Talk, come from all Britain's Christian bookshops. Mayor, from High Wycombe, has recorded several albums for ICC. Said the label's Adrian Thompson about 'Gentle Touch', "We were pleasantly surprised by the award. It's a generic album, which can be used for personal worship, used as background music, used in any manner of ways. It's clearly struck a chord with shops and consumers."
