Johnny Brown and Ella Mae Wilson on field recordings re-issue

A COLLECTION of historic field recordings originally released in 1981 as a vinyl album has been expanded to a double CD and hard cover book. 'Drop On Down In Florida: Field Recordings of African-American Traditional Music 1977-1980' is issued by specialist label Dust To Digital. One whole disc on the CD is devoted to gospel music featuring shape note singing; blues gospel man Johnny Brown whose tracks are, according to Red Lick mail order company, "reminiscent of the best religious songs of Mississippi Fred McDowell"; Miccosukee Church Of God Of Prophecy; Ella Mae Wilson and others. CR
