Hymns album by Michael Sweet set for September release

THE HYMNS album by Michael Sweet, lead singer of veteran glam rockers Stryper, will be released on 1st August in the US. 'Him' features Sweet's renditions of such hymn classics as "Take My Life", "Alleluia" and the Christmas favourite "O Holy Night". Sweet said about the project, "I was deeply moved by so many of the old hymns' lyrics but I wasn't really moved by the music or the melodies. I thought it would be cool to write new music to these songs that already have such amazingly powerful words." The project will be released on Infinity Records and Sweet will be undertaking a US tour of churches, theatres and coffee houses. CR
