Nu Colours disband, although continue to pursue individual projects

DESPITE RECENT chart success, award-winning British R&B gospel team Nu Colours have disbanded. Commented ex-member Lawrence Johnson, "10 years together is a relatively long time. Whilst we weren't the only ones in the running, we significantly put gospel on the map. We now want to steer our experience and expertise it in a positive way, back into the gospel community." Lawrence criticized the lack of financial commitment from Polygram Records, "It's quite frustrating when you think that most of the money goes to well known bands which are not even as talented as other bands may be."

The members of Nu Colours are officially still signed as individuals to Polygram and will be involved in several projects. Together with Laine, Lawrence will be working with Soul II Soul. Also, Lawrence will be producing for gospel and soul newcomers and Nu Colour's former lead singer Fazay Simpson will be doing backing vocals on Jamiroqui's new album. All together, the ex group members will be doing vocals on BeBe Winans' forthcoming debut solo project. CR
