Nel Robinson, Raymond & Co, LCGC win British gospel awards

THE LATEST in a series of attempts to establish national awards for the British gospel music scene, the Oasis Gospel Awards took place at London's Hilton Metropole Hotel on 2nd February. The event was organised by Ronie Henderson of gospel company MusicStar Promotions with media sponsors The Voice and Choice FM. The winners of the awards were: Best Album/EP: 'Worthy In This Place', Noel Robinson & Nu Image; Best Group: Raymond & Co; Best Choir: London Community Gospel Choir; Best Female Act: Carla Hayles; Best Male Act: The Gifted; Best Producer: Adrian McKenzie/Miss Cherokee/Patrick White; Best Holy Hip Hop Act: The Gifted; Best Reggae/Ragga Artist: The Watchman; Best British Garage Act: Wookie featuring Laing, 'Battle'; Best British Musician: Howard Francis; Best Radio Presenter Greater London & South East: Dave P, Choice FM; Best Radio Presenter Midlands: Dulcie Dixon, BBC Radio Leicester; Best Urban Song: "Playing Games", Raymond & Co; Best Worship Song: "You Are My Saviour", Noel Robinson; Best Songwriter: Howard Francis/Mark Beswick; Best Event: GMTV/The Voice Gospel Challenge; Best British Gospel Newspaper: The Voice, Marcia Dixon; Contribution To Gospel Music: Bazil Meade; Best Packaged CD: 'Worthy In This Place', Noel Robinson & Nu Image.
