Christian band land dream gig

CHRISTIAN ROCK band Seven landed a dream gig when they were chosen from 300 bands to open for superstars Bon Jovi at Milton Keynes Bowl in front of a sell-out 60,000 audience. The concert, held on July 6th, was, according to the band's leader Del Currie, "absolutely fantastic. To be honest, we would have been happy if we weren't booed off but in fact the response of the crowd was phenomenal. At the end we were looking out at a sea of people clapping above their heads!"

In May Jon Bon Jovi announced that he wanted a local unsigned band to open for his group. He said that this was his way of putting something back into the industry and helping some hopefuls. A contest to select the band was announced by John Brett of local newspaper The Milton Keynes Citizen in conjunction with MCP and from the 300 entrants Seven were selected by a panel of judges who included Pete Winkleman of Great Linford Manor Studios where Skunk Anansie are currently recording.

Seven, whose 'High And Wired' privately financed album has just been released, are now talking to Total/BMG about the possibility of putting their album into mainstream record shops. And the band have been offered studio time in Great Linford Manor to record a single.
