Steve Taylor leaves Squint Entertainment

LEGENDARY rock gospel singer/producer and record company owner Steve Taylor has left Squint Entertainment, the company he founded and which had major hits with artists like Sixpence None The Richer. Insiders say that Gaylord Entertainment, parent company of the Word Music Group, were looking for ways to trim down their overheads. In mid July, when Gaylord announced their intention to fold Squint into the Word label, Taylor asked Gaylord if he could buy Squint back from them. Taylor approached the company with an offer but Gaylord rejected this and decided to shut down the label entirely. There is still much uncertainty as to which artists will remain with Word and which will move on to new companies.
