CompassionArt initiative set to kick off in November

THE FIRST album in the CompassionArt initiative, described as bringing "the heart of worship a little closer to meeting the needs of a world in pain," will be released on 24th November by Survivor Records. 'CompassionArt: Creating Freedom From Poverty' features songs and performances from Chris Tomlin, Martin Smith, Kirk Franklin, Israel Houghton, Toby Mac, Darlene Zschech, Matt Redman, Tim Hughes, Joel Houston, Paul Baloche, the Lakewood Choir, Amy Grant, Michael W Smith, Graham Kendrick and others. Also packaged with the CD will be a DVD featuring a 50-minute documentary and PDF downloads of song and chord charts of all the tracks.

As well as the album the songwriters have produced a book, The Art Of Compassion, to be published by Hodder in November. The book is described as "a 12 chapter unravelling of the trail of worship, hope and justice found in each of the writers' lives." CR
