I just thought that I would mention about the box of bones found
which has given even more people no leg to stand on in the argument
against Jesus' existence.
Believe it or not but there are lots of so-called educated people
who believe that there is no evidence of the existence of Jesus as a
historical figure. Despite all the written evidence they have
persisted in their arguments.
Recently, a limestone box containing bones was found in Israel.
An inscription on the box said that they belonged to "James, son
of Joseph, brother of Jesus". There were doubts as to its
authenticity but, after many tests, the doubts were shown to have no
foundation.
Throughout my Christian life I have seen a pattern emerge. The
pattern is one where people deny the truth of the Bible and then end
up eating their words as evidence comes forward such as this. For
many years many people were turned away from the truth of the Bible
because someone said that there is no evidence to show that Romans
ever used nails to crucify people. It took many years but one day
there was a tomb excavated where the occupant had nails through his
hands and feet. Another concerned the walls of Jerusalem. Certain
people said that the bible was false because achaeologists had found
old walls of Jerusalem and they did not contain a certain well which
David used to get into the city. The Bible had said that the well (or
similar water strucure) was inside the city walls. This went on for
years until another archaeological dig found even older walls of
Jerusalem which DID contain the well inside.
There is so much evidence to show the truth of the authenticity of
the Bible that really there should be no doubt to anyone anymore.
Thank God that we follow a living God, that he is as real as real
can be!
Didn`t hear anything about that. I`ll do a quick search...
Thanks for posting.

Just thought I'd let you know that I read a newspaper today that said
that the writing on the box was added after the creation of the box.
It said nothing else so it is hard to detirmine how factual the
statement is; I was led to believe that all the tests that needed to
be done on the box and its writing were done and that there was no
doubt of its authenticity. Ah, well.

True, I believe that the Bible is the word of God, and therefore it
cannot be untrue.

As Christians living in a secular world, I believe that it is quite
important that we don't appear fanatical about our beliefs. After all
that is the main argument that the secular world has against the
Muslims! :o
As modern Christians, I think that it it is important that we
understand where the evidence for our faith comes from. Can I suggest
that people obtain a copy of Josh McDowell's book 'Evidence that
demands a verdict'. My copy is an old one and I understand it has now
been updated to include more recent discoveries, but even that
contains some really compelling evidence to support the existence of
Jesus. This is not a book for curling up in your favorite chair and
having a good read but it is an excellent reference work.
As an aside to NaomiAngel and Matt Horton I have a word of caution in
that things may not be quite as clear as they seem. For instance, can
either of you say definitively from biblical texts, how Judas died?
It is therefore dangerous to state that the bible is infallible since
it was written by people and therefore prone to error. Before people
stone me as a heretic I should point out that I believe that the
scripture is (as Paul says) God breathed. It contains the words of
life.

Firstly That book sounds usful to me because i want to study this more
but never have the time.
If we should be fanatical or not depends on how you mean, we have to
show what our faith is and how important it is to us and that we will
not be moved from this path - which could be called fanatical although
i dont. What we as christians should not do is go around forcing
people to hear us or in any way cause harm or offence. If people dont
want to hear accept it and go away and pray for them not be in their
face.
We must be prepared to discuss our faith and answer questions and
defend it mind so understanding the basis is important.

I would also recommend a web site called www.anchorstone.com It
has some amazing physical proof that the bible is accurate about the
Red Sea Crossing, Noah's Ark, the Ark of the Covenant, Mount Sinai and
more. Anyway, the crosshold which Jesus was placed on was found
with the broken ground....just above the arc of the covenant which
contains dried human blood on it (just as the blood of sacrifices were
placed on the ark years before). I have done much research on
this and feel it is a very good website...other sources confirm Ron
Wyatt's findings at Sodom and Gomorrah. You can even take tours
to see many of these sites for yourself and get your own piece of
brimstone. Another good site is www.michaelrood.com
it's a lot of reading, but well worth it.

Hi Ywaf, I'm just a little bewildered by your statement" Anyway,
the crosshold which Jesus was placed on was found with the broken
ground....just above the arc of the covenant which contains dried
human blood on it (just as the blood of sacrifices were placed on the
ark years before).". It seems to me that finding the crosshold
would be a very improbable thing to do and then to prove it was the
correct crosshold even more so. Linking it with the Ark of the
covenant also seems to add more scepticism to my mind. So, where do
you get that info from?
