Anyone who knows their Christian music history will know that Annie Herring, Matthew Ward and Nelly Ward were innovators in the development of CCM. From their first album in 1974 to the going of their separate ways in the mid-'80s these Californian harmonisers created some great Jesus music and later, as their sound grew more sophisticated, highly polished Christian pop. This compilation wisely focuses on their early years and most of their Christian radio hits like "Mansion Builder", "Easter Song" and the later "Humble Yourself" are here. Some may find the shrill harmonies a tad overpowering but no one can doubt the quality of their best songs while in Annie and Matthew they had two exceptional lead voices. If you've got previous compilations like the box set '20' or the 1981's 'Encores' you will already have many of these tracks. But if you are only now catching up on Jesus music history this is a useful dig into the archives.
