Plymouth-based 3 Second Memory are purveyors of rootsy pop rock in a Del Amitri sort of fashion - their lead singer even sounds a little like the Scottish band's singer. They recorded their four track debut CD at Bristol's Redlands studios but the results don't really do the band many favours. There are some nice songs here, the best is probably "Rain Down" which closes the CD. "Holy Mountain" has a "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" riff which works pretty well but "Price On Your Head" doesn't gel and sounds rather muggy. The same problem plagues "Stumbling Ground" which also doesn't come together sound wise. Here and there out of tune guitars grate on the ears and the result is that as much as I want to encourage the band to grow and develop, this CD is a lesson in how not to do it. I know it's often a matter of what time young bands can afford to spend in the studio that determines the outcome. The band look promising but in fairness 3SM have to stir themselves and get it right next time.

i love the debut album i think the lyrics are thought
provoking and the music is...admitedly a little disjointed
but really upbeat. i can think of lots of worse bands than
3sm and this album cleared my friends doubts when she was
"going through a rough time" she is now more commited to God
and her faith than ever and has bought 3 of her friends to
Christ
