When I first listened to this album I think I must have been suffering from an unhealthy attack of cynicism. I was going to use words such as "contrived", "corny" and, in the worst sense, "nice". I was expecting a piece of over-produced formulaic Nashville pop. When I finally sat down to write this review I played it again and was caught off guard by actually enjoying it! The opening song, "Let The Lion Run Free", is an inspiring three minutes where words and music blend together effortlessly, in which the singer decides, "It's time to wake this giant that's in me, let my inhibitions go." The tracks continue in this inspirational vein, and ones that stick out for me are the punchy and catchy "Obvious" and the challenging and harmony soaked "Can't Get Past The Evidence". The only let down I found was the track "Great Awakening" which was, frankly, boring. Overall though, a thoroughly enjoyable slice of summer music.
