The website of this Oslo-based band tells us that: "7 Days And A Miracle (former name: Expect A Miracle) has kept rocking on since 1994, but the crew, music, and purpose of their music has changed since the beginning." Hearing this 2006 album for the first time makes one imagine how the Newsboys might sound if mixed with a dash of U2. It is almost impossible not to be drawn into this delicious sound complete with lyrics that you can relate to expressing the highs and lows of maintaining a relationship with God. Starting with the upbeat track "Help U", which is revealing God's perspective and response to our most desperate moments in life, pop ballads and powerful rockers keep you listening. One of my personal favourites from this album, "Hurt", contains absolutely no stereotypical religious phrases but authentically and honestly displays the contrariness of fear gripping our lives while trying to hold on to God's hand. From spacious guitar sounds and busy drum patterns to simple, yet impressive piano playing, fans of skilfully executed pop rock will not be disappointed. 7 Days. . . latest single "Stand By Me" (a cover of the Ben E King classic) was released in June this year. So, we're looking forward to hearing more from these talented Norwegians.
