AVB, originally The Acappella Vocal Band, is one of the longest established acappella outfits in Christian music, although in keeping with several other musical ensembles such as Truth and The African Children's Choir, the personnel changes completely on a regular basis. This particular incarnation gives us a smooth (albeit time-wise rather stingy at 36 minutes and 27 seconds) set, mostly written by Acappella Company founder Keith Lancaster. One quibble I have is with the assertion on the CD sleeve: "All sounds vocally or anatomically produced." Several tracks feature what sounds suspiciously like a drum machine, which to my mind is neither vocal nor anatomically, and it detracts from the pure sound that acappella should be. That having been said, the five singers all have good voices, they blend well together, and production values are good. This could have been very good indeed without the electronic aids, and with more playing time; as it stands, it's merely good.
