Clocking in at just over nine minutes and containing three tracks, this debut EP is a tempting taster of what this Kansas City-based band have to offer. They cram an impressive variety into this little package. Musically, A Sequence Of Ghosts are rooted in hardcore and hints of genre leaders Underoath can be heard throughout the recording. Corey Keller's soaring and powerful vocals stand out, providing a melodic counterpoint to Jesse Conn's throaty growl. Setting ASOG apart from similar groups is the variety provided by the backing guitars and drums which are at times, experimental. Energy levels never let up, with each cut building in intensity. Saving the best till last, "The Distance Between" builds to a wall of noise with a driving guitar riff. A memorable chorus breaks in, lifting this track above the rest. Production could be a little more dynamic, but this is a minor gripe over a first offering that is most impressive.
