Good to see this re-released on a budget label. Aled, of course, shot to fame as a boy treble in 1985 and he did not lose that vocal appeal when he grew up. His velvet voice always charms - always dead in tune and the words so clear and expressive. There are a lot of strong songs on this 1999 album but for me the big bonus is the fine production by the late Irish folk singer Christie Hennessy. The title track cover of Van Morrison is a great opener, with its catchy rhythm, and another upbeat number is the big ballad "The Power Of Love". Eric Clapton's "Tears In Heaven" is vulnerable and sensitive with a perfect tribute guitar solo. The sound quality is top class throughout and I love the arrangements - each carefully placed riff is just right. Aled includes a couple of Hennessy songs, notably "I Will" with its tender lyrics. There is a lot of variety, from the 1944 classic "The Christmas Song" to Michael Jackson's "Heal The World" but they make a seamless album because of Aled's golden voice. A completely assured vocal performance, as you would expect from a man who has been singing professionally since he was nine.
