With a vocalist yelling lyrics to a serious beat, I found Alien Chain's rock to be quite.er.heavy.  There was only a brief moment of relief as the first track ended.  Then the second track kicked in.  It was even heavier.  Fortunately, a much more reflective piece followed even though it still had that unmistakable beat.  Ah! but then there came an almost ambient sound slowly moving into stronger rock.  And that was it.  There were only four tracks.  Or so I thought when I played this last thing at night and fell asleep listening to track four.  Sometime after it finished I was woken up by another heavy song.  Yes, a couple more songs are there as hidden tracks well after the last song.  These appear to be recorded at a live gig with the band introducing each song.  The last song "One Fine Day" I found to have the most clearly Christian lyrics.  It was about the return of Jesus and was in a much softer musical style.  I found it a pity that this track was so carefully hidden.  The rest of the lyrics were hard to follow.  Nevertheless, this album did have some powerful beats.

Insipid review, but without background info it would be hard to put a recording like this into context. On the other hand, so many CR reviews seem to be written from a fannish perspective and not from actual informed writers. Ah well.
