I like classical music, I like black gospel including the warhorse "When The Saints" and I delight in worshipping God. But when the All Soul's Orchestra launched into it on the opener, all it managed to do was remove the enamel from my teeth. Soon it gets better; the Malcolm Sargent Hospitals Choir do a stirring rendition of "God Of Glory". But then a lumpen version of "El Shaddai" by mezzo-soprano Kathleen McKellar-Ferguson had me wincing again. Elsewhere on the CD you've got renditions of Haydn and Mendelssohn alongside Kendrick and Ken Medema. The sound quality of the whole recording was rather low-fi. This is best left for those who want a momento of the Birmingham concert last October the 23rd or who are more sold on the concept of a classical/contemporary praise/ancient hymns mish mash than I am.
