When Pennsylvania's Allan Scott first emerged onto the Christian music scene in 2012, he was prepared to call himself a "former drug addict, dropout, thief and loser." Judging from the quality of 'The Story', Allan won't need much longer to make endless references to his bleak past, but will be able to push on to a broader based CCM ministry future. His band is a good one, with Allan on lead vocals and guitar, and with Matt Wolf also on guitar, Connor Williams on bass, Jared VanOuse on keys and Caleb Bush on drums. Influences include '70s funk with more than a large dose of 'Keane style pop' (though they'll probably have a different phrase for this in the US). This is Allan's first full-length album, following two previous EP releases, and it opens with the radio friendly single "Fearless" featuring Charisah. Other highlights include the atmospheric "Bright" with its encouragement to shine to those around us and the title track describing how a life can be changed as "the story is not over yet." The lyrics are mainly focused on encouragement and faith and as such is a very positive listen - with its appealing, modern rock sound, it should slowly but surely build Allan's support base.
