Picture the scene: your tired reviewer slots in the tape...who is this? Uh oh. Cute organ at the start...never mind...groan, get on with some work. Then suddenly... THAT VOICE! Hey Rimmer! LISTEN! Wow! This album stopped me in my tracks on a busy day and forced me to pay attention! You learn three things about Amy Morriss. Firstly, all those years touring churches as a kid singing gospel music helped her develop the kind of voice that can melt the hardest stony heart. Secondly, she's already an accomplished songwriter, having penned seven of the 10 cuts on her debut. Her direct lyrics are inspirational and straight forward reflecting the singer's down to earth spirituality. I love the pop feel of the title songs and the simplicity and encouragement of songs like "Keep The Faith" and "I'll Be Here Loving You". The album combines elements of pop, gospel, R&B and those ballads to make a very special recording. Whatever the setting, Amy's voice is never less than captivating, breathing life into every lyric. Amy Morriss has soul and if I hadn't had the press pack I'd never have learned a third thing about her. Unbelievably, she's white!
