Richard Ellin was in the same college class as Mick Jones of The Clash and played in the marvelous Portsmouth Sinfonia, an orchestra renowned for its triumph of enthusiasm over musical talent. And Did Those Feet is mainly a collaboration between Richard and Welsh singer and successful Eisteddfod winner Ina Williams whose soaring voice is one of this album's highlights. Musical backing is mainly provided by David Bird and Richard Lacy from Eden's Bridge and the result is something wonderfully left field. The single release of the same name was reviewed in CR69 and the full length album features some wonderful moments. Highlights include the Welsh language performance of "Avalon Yet" which also features the classical guitar talents of Richard Ellin and then there's the classical guitar backing for the beautiful poetic "To Clementine Churchill" which is a tribute to the wife of our wartime prime minister. Then there's the children's performance of the delightful "Once There Was A Choo Choo" and there is something divinely mischievous to create a piece for voice, guitar and comb! But that's "Two Nightingales". All wonderfully British and eccentric, this is creative and unusual and if you fancy a musical adventure, go for it!
