From the atmospheric synth and crunching groovy drums that herald the start of this album, it's clear that Andi Rozier is determined to grab your attention with a dynamic life changing message and it's this passion that continues throughout. The songs all carry a burden to communicate that it is God who heals broken hearts and that to discover God in brokenness is a powerful experience. These are inspiring songs of hope and strong medicine for the weak, for the washed out and for the broken. An album in the twilight zone between worship and prophetic encouragement, this is an ambitious independent release. Rozier's style is in places akin to Matt Redman's Britpop guitar-driven worship and vocally there are moments that feel familiar. But rather than making this derivative, it simply means that if you're into the Soul Survivor style, you've got to check this out! As for individual songs, highlights include the up-tempo rock'n'pop of "Hallelujah For The Cross" and "With You I Belong", whilst the floating "State Of Grace" mixes ambience with radical healing scriptures to minister straight into the heart. The rhythm driven "Man Of Miracles" is a central song because it points beyond ourselves to Jesus who is ultimately the one who heals the broken. Not a regular subject for Christian music albums and much more up and positive than you'd imagine. I wish there were more artists who would grasp hold of ministry like this.
