I vividly remember the first volume in this series, which I reviewed some years ago, and I was rather scathing when I heard some rather limp stuff instead of the hot toastin’ that the title led me to expect. Having heard Volume 2, which was not much better, I now have the third in the trilogy to listen to, and I still can’t get excited about Andrew’s clinical and precise style. On the credit side, his vocals have definitely improved and there’s a lot more variety and proficiency in the production and programming, although a minus point is that the packaging of the CD is very poor. Most of the themes are familiar, using several psalms as inspiration, but I still feel Andrew has a little way to go before he can justify calling his work “righteous riddims” - "reggae retreads" would be more appropriate.
