Andrew Serino was an America Idol contestant and here offers an alt/rock album with a touch of punk rock thrown in. The lyrics largely convey the message that however hard things are, there is still hope to be found. They are performed with a heap of energy and I can imagine Andrew and his band would be great live. "Arrogance" has a pop rock sound a bit like the old All Star United with some great vocal harmony; "Barriers" is probably the most pop-centric songs on the album with a lyric which muses "I'd like to figure out what I was made to be. . ." while the final song title track is a heartfelt confession: "I'm not a perfect person; I'm not a perfect man/I'm trying to stay humble and I do the best I can." With strong production throughout, if you're looking for a pop rock album with a sound pitched somewhere between Relient K and Anberlin I'd recommend 'The Golden Thread'.
