This is the first "solo" offering from Andy Baker and is released through a mission and ministry to teenagers in Sheffield called Nail The Truth. For a debut, this is a very good pop album; the 11 songs are Andy's own, occasionally assisted lyrically by members of his "band". In all cases the lyrics hit home, although occasionally they just about avoid being trite. The production is first class, which is probably not surprising when you see that one of those getting special thanks is Zarc Porter. 'On A Journey' starts with two upbeat pop/worship songs, "Faithful" and "Nothing Can Compare", before taking on a more laid back "West Coast" sound with what is perhaps the best of a good bunch, "Jesus My King". "My Faith Is In You" has a chorus that is the perfect recipe for living the Christian life. The laid back sound predominates, although "The Journey" includes a rock guitar riff. Keyboards are more to the fore on the final two tracks, the worshipful "The Anthems Of Your Throne" and the reflective testimony of " I See You". This is the sort of album to play to non-Christian friends, with powerful lyrics and some great hooks.
