What do most people do when they get made redundant? I remember I sat around for a few days doing not very much, but Andy Gilbert decided to make a CD! And here it is, digitally recorded and mastered by his own fair hand, with 13 tracks adding up to just over 43 minutes of music. All the material is self-penned (apart from admitting to being inspired by Frances Ridley Havergal's old hymn when writing "Take My Life"), Andy's style is mostly laid-back acoustic, and considering the available budget (what budget?), this is a reasonable effort. "This Is The Day" has a Roy Orbison-"O Pretty Woman"-style opening riff, but some of the rest is rather predictable and the lack of budget shows in a slightly flat feel to much of the production, not to mention some obviously programmed drums, and the occasional muffled or wobbly vocal. Nevertheless, I've heard stuff worse than this come out of big-buck studios and I expect to hear some kiddywinkers somewhere singing along to "O Lord You're A Great God". Cheap and cheerful.
