Three and a half years after his Christmas album Andy, this London-based singer, songwriter and worship leader, returns with a classy set of seven songs. Lyrically soundly biblical, these are evangelical, challenging and uncompromising words about the life of Jesus and the need to get right with God. Some tasty guitar licks, a late '60s pop vibe and infectious enthusiasm in the performance of these new songs make this mini-album sparkle like a diamond in the sun. Each song is a statement of faith. "He Is Alive" with its strident, pounding rhythm and cascading strings which suddenly drop away to leave a solitary, almost unsupported, vocal to describe the crucifixion scene, returning again with power when the resurrection occurs. "You Are Faithful" kicks off the album, crisp drum beats announce the intention of the song, jiving guitar and finger flashing solo runs support the strong vocal line with rolling bass lines and swirling violins to make this opener a real ear grabber. The closer "Love" features a clever football crowd-style singing chorus as an outro but the lead vocal moves out of a comfortable range and Andy sounds strained. This is a small criticism of an otherwise sound set well worth the wait and the purchase price.
