Another volume, this one from 2005, from the Brazilian guitarist, bass player, producer, arranger and session musician living and working in the USA. Like the first volume, these are beautifully deft renditions of hymns and worship songs. The guitar maestro is able to bring a lilting swing to the old war horse "Amazing Grace" while "Vencendo Vem Jesus!", which Americans call "Battle Hymn Of The Republic" and which is normally mangled on these shores by the throaty voices of Man United fans as "Glory, Glory Hallelujah", is beautifully turned into a hoedown, with the help of a 12 string guitar, a mandolin and a banjo. Also, I need to mention Ari's smooth and slick rendition of "Quao Bondoso Amigo E Cristo" ("What A Friend We Have In Jesus"), where he manages to do with a guitar the sort of thing that Take 6 do vocally - build a simple melody into a veritable treasure chest of harmonies.
