Art and Nancy Ruprecht are worship leaders at New Covenant Church in Missouri and this is their first album. The 14 songs on it have an early '90s feel, with big arrangements, soaring guitar solos (by Art) and a dense midi-programmed backing. There's no doubting the musical ability of the husband and wife team, but I was left with a feeling that they weren't really achieving their full potential. Judging from the prayer of repentance helpfully included on the back cover, this is intended to be an evangelistic project, but the lyrics (which the accompanying notes tell us are full of sound doctrine) tend to be so full of biblical jargon that they even left me bemused at times. However, it's a pleasant listen and there are some very good songs on it, including "The River" and "Point Of View". The arrangements are good and include some very silky sax playing by Fred Middlekauf and Michael Todd, as well as some nifty fiddling by Alison Thompson on "In The Son". It's not going to break any sales records, but there's a lot worse stuff around.
