As followers of the UK country/Americana scene will know, Scotland's Ashton Lane have found their own niche in the increasingly popular field. They have in Esther O'Connor an exceptional singer while the original Christmas song title track hits all the right buttons without a single reference to chestnuts or open fires. I particularly enjoyed the duo's lilting rendition of the old hymn "Who Comes This Night". If you enjoyed Ashton Lane's two albums or have a desire for Christmas country without the Nashville schmaltz, this is an EP for you.
