This is a four-song EP from a Lincoln-based four-piece who in recent times have supported Delirious? and appeared on the same bill as Franz Ferdinand. This is a young line up and I am assuming it is their first CD release. Given their age I have to say that the music shows a lot of promise. This is guitar-driven rock. To me the band excels when it is rocking out rather than trying to be acoustic. "Me And My Guitar" has a real dance beat to it. There's some really good lead guitar in evidence, especially on "Rockstar". That song uses some unexpected vocal harmonies which fit well. I see that the band especially enjoy live play and I could see them going down a storm in that setting. They are keen to share their faith through their music. I think given that desire, the challenge to the band seems to me to be to write lyrics which will achieve that end. I could not really work out whether "Rockstar" was communicating a spiritual truth or not. I am assuming that the "you" often referred to in the songs is God. The final song "Promises" is obviously trying to give a message of hope to youth without really giving any indication as to what that hope is. I am certainly not suggesting that the band goes in for "preachy" lyrics, but wonder if this is an area for special attention.
