Throughout the world of popular music there seems to have been a recent trend for artists to revive the classic songs of the last 40 years and this is the road that Avalon's ninth studio album goes down. The award-winning vocal group have gathered big CCM hits from such acts as Amy Grant, Michael W Smith, 4Him and Steven Curtis Chapman and offer their slick interpretations of songs that have defined contemporary Christian music. The songs are not randomly chosen. Many of these artists and songs have influenced Avalon's music and this tribute is a fitting one. While putting an Avalon-spin on classics such as "People Need The Lord" (Steve Green), "El-Shaddai" (Amy Grant) and "God Is In Control" (Twila Paris), they have managed to maintain what it was that made these songs classics in the first place - powerful messages that focus on the heart of God and are brought together by gifted songwriters. Many years after the original release of these songs, Avalon have been successful in showing that the best numbers here really are timeless classics.
