At the time of this album's release in 1987, the Winans family were already shaping up to be the premier gospel family in America following the success of BeBe and CeCe's siblings. History shows that just about everybody in the family has stepped into a studio at some point to record something but history now shows BeBe & CeCe have managed to make a more significant mark than anyone else in the family as a brother sister duo and as solo artists. And this is where it all started in 1987. To 21st century ears, the production from Keith Thomas sounds a little dated but back then the combination of soulful vocals and electronic grooves was exactly what was going on in R&B. Their friend Whitney Houston was carving out a niche in the mainstream market and BeBe & CeCe stepped into the scene with a more directly gospel version of a similar style. Vocally the siblings had the chops and this was a significant start to their careers. "I.O.U. Me" became their first crossover R&B hit and CeCe won a gospel Grammy for her performance of the beautiful ballad "For Always". Although subsequent albums would be bigger hits, this is still a classic of the era.
