Tennessee's R&B gospel singer Beckah is clear in her mission to get herself out into the mainstream and communicate God's love in a way that is relevant to the up and coming generation. With a sound that references less positive role models such as Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Rihanna, her fifth album doesn't miss and hits the wall in terms of cultural relevance and spiritual clarity with tracks such as "For Such A Time As This" and "Hope" refusing to promote anything else but the message that everyone needs Christ as Saviour in this age of degradation. Such is the up to the minute nature of this album's sound, "Holy" and "Just To Know" could easily become club anthems despite their worshipful content and the radio friendly "putyourloveglasseson" was born to be a massive hit. A lot of this is down to the production skills of husband Jack Shocklee (Toby Mac, Montell Jordan) but credit must go to Shae for her powerhouse vocal performance - complete with all the gusto and versatility of divas like Beyoncé and Shakira - plus an incredible writing ability that hits her message home at every turn. If your teenage daughter only has one Christian album on her iPod, it should be this one.
