This LP was actually released last year, and Believer are just finishing their second. "Extraction From Mortality" has to be the best Christian thrash LP so far. It features technical riffing, cool vocals and occasionally classical instruments and keyboards as on the title track and the intro "Unite". This starts the LP with newsreels, then discordant piano playing followed by a heavy church organ piece which leads straight into the song, starting slowly then thrashing out at full tilt. All the lyrics are intelligent and Biblical and the playing is top notch, Believer have had nothing but good things said about them in the secular press lately. One of the songs, "Not Even One" has found its way into a death metal compilation, "Death's door", which is an excellent witness to Death metal fans, even though I wouldn't strictly class Believer as this type band; though they are heavy thrash. An interesting song on the LP is "Stress", which features bursts of reggae between thrash sections. This track is amazing, but sadly is only included on CD and cassette. I first had their album on vinyl last year, so when I heard the track on the cassette some time later I was well freaked out! Check out the technical solos and the beautiful violin/viola intro to "Extraction". The whole thing reeks of excellence.
