All Saints' Church, Worcester is a growing congregation with a passion for diversity in worship, which has been explored in a new way over recent years. A number of enterprising musicians are involved in leading worship, including Ben Dunnett. This is his debut recording, a mini-album consisting of seven tracks and lasting 29 minutes. Surprisingly, given the proficiency of these tunes, Ben only started writing songs in 2007; he creating the music and Hannah penning the lyrics. Adventurously, the music was recorded with support from a live All Saints' congregation, and, though not always the case in live ventures, this thankfully adds a positive atmospheric edge to the sound. Dunnett's style is contemporary pop worship (rather than full-throttle rock praise) - original piano-based songs which are pleasant and accessible, and there's a good diversity. Some are hymn-like, with chorus and verse, and lyrics meaningful and personal. A prominent theme - as suggested by the title track - is the Cross - most poignantly reflected in the delicate "A Frame So Beautifully Formed": "All my shame, all I've failed to be/Nailed upon a cross, and left at Calvary." An attractive serving of adorational worship songs.
