Hailing from the States, Between Thieves are yet another example of a genre fast becoming overcrowded. Featuring Jason Wesson (vocals), James Yourman (bass), Jason Advise (drums/percussion) and Josh Watkins (guitars), it is James Yourman's thumping bass that adds extra spice to the album's mood. With 'Water', the band prove themselves to be prolific song writers, able to express themselves eloquently both son-ically and lyrically; though it must be said that there is nothing here that particularly grabs the listener's attention, that would ear mark 'Water' as being a cut above the norm. Produced by Steve Hindalong (The Choir, Lost Dogs), too often certain passages herein sound uncomfortably close to Steve's own band for my liking. Overall another 'safe' alternative album, which sadly fails to fully realise Between Thieves' potential.
