Funny people, these American gospel types. When recording an album in the studio, they add canned applause to achieve a 'live' feel, yet when they do record a gig, they mix it in such a way that the audience sounds almost nonexistent (or maybe only 12 people felt like joining in - who knows?). Either way, it appears that not everyone present at the Born Again Church in Nashville that evening in March last year wanted to "have church" with Ms Crawford - which is a shame, as there are some really inspiring moments on this offering, although it did get a bit boring in places. She's accompanied by the Born Again Mass Choir, led by O'Landa Draper, and additional backing vocals are provided by a few old favourites: Alfie Silas, Maxi Anderson and Debbie McClendon-Smith, whose husband is one of the producer/arrangers. The album's better moments include "I'm Yours" (which reminded me of an old Gap Band tune called "Shake"), and the riotous finale, "Come On Everybody".
