Big House Worship comes out of Big House Church who are based in Norfolk, Virginia. 'Road Less Travelled' is their latest worship recording and is an interesting and eclectic blend of a variety of musical and songwriting styles that deviate somewhat from what is usually expected in congregational worship. The work of five worship leaders is featured in this 11-track project including Adam Cates, Ryan Meadows, Olivia Dyer, Isaac Gay and Calvin Allen. "Glorified" is a solid rock tune that is reminiscent of some of U2's earlier work while "Follow" takes on a more quirky folk sound complete with unusual harmonies. The orchestral arrangement that gently ends "I Am Yours" made my spirit soar! There is definitely space within these songs where spontaneous worship can happen, however as is often the case with spontaneous songs they can become overly repetitive in places such as in "Single Man". Big House Worship have most certainly created their own distinct and unique sound that is all their own. If you are looking for something a little different from the norm, dip your ear and heart into this album. You may be pleasantly surprised.
