The debut album which has broken all sorts of records. The single "Achy Breaky Heart" has been a hit in just about every country. In fact it was the fastest selling debut single in history! Love it or hate it (I hated it. Ed.), it's done wonders for the status of country music. The odd thing is that the album (which has now sold 7 million copies in the States alone) is really quite standard modern country. Apart from a re-working of the old Nancy Sinatra hit "These Boots Are Made For Walking", it's new and good songs, many of them written by Billy or his former wife. They cover a wide range of emotions. Billy Ray's Pentecostal background comes through on the liner notes, when he testifies to what faith can do! To sum up, an enjoyable album, but not that much better than many others I've heard. Give it a listen as it's not just "Achy Breaky Heart" mark II and III.
